loosen the float screw enough to slip the pin and float out then bend the tang slightly whichever way it needs to go to change the level.

I'm a little confused about loosening the float screw and slipping the pin; you can bend the tang without removing those... Does it have to do with seating the needle?

Also, the big question is, *what do you set the float at* and how do you measure it? ...Or is it trial and error until you get the fuel level right?

I've never tried to bend the tang without removing the float. I check it before removing the bowl to begin with then if it needs adjustment I know about how far to bent the tang. Usually only takes once or twice.

i would not bend tab without slippin float off first, you may damage it. you loosen the single screw that holds the float pivot pin in place a small amount, and the pin and float pop off. then u move the tab carefully with a small slotted scredriver ever so little to get it corrcted, trial and error, and try to aim the top flat part of float at the thing in ODOS pictures for a starting point. the i measure with tube, or some just leave it there.

That and I like to hold the metal piece when I'm bending the tang. The attachment to the float looks too flimsy to bend it while just holding the float.
